TIMING KIT INSTALLATION FOR ASTRO, S10, BLEZER, C1500, C2500, W / BALANCE, SHAFT, ASTRO, VAN
1262CID, TBI OHV1 2V V6 ENGINE 263 (4.3L) (89-95)
Procedure for the disassembly and assembly of the distribution components:
1.- Put piston No1 in TDC (compression phase).
2.- Remove accessories and front covers of the distribution.
3.- Align the timing points of the camshafts and crankshaft, See fig. 1, 2.
4.- Begin to disassemble gears, remove tensioner and chain.
5- Give cleaning and verify the conditions of how they were working, if there is a leak by
Replace the shaft or crankshaft seals.
6.- Install the new kit taking into account the marks previously indicated and giving
the torques according to as marked in the diagram.
7.- Once the distribution is installed, turn the crankshaft two turns with the handle to
corroborate its free movement, if any obstruction is found, repeat the operation of
installation.
NOTE: Once the chain is removed, do not rotate the shaft and crankshaft gears separately.
It can cause serious damage to internal engine components.
8.- The oil change is important for the proper functioning of the components.
If there is any doubt that there is dirty oil, lower the crankcase to clean it and the
oil pump and avoid problems secondary to the lubrication system.
