TIMING KIT INSTALATION FOR 4G15 SOHC 12V L4 motor 1468cc, (1.5L.) (91-96 )(97-02) TB191(92D) TB289(107D)
1.- Put piston No1 in TDC (compression phase).
2.- Remove accessories, end cap and front covers of the distribution.
3.- Align time marks of the camshaft and crankshaft gears with the cover
rear as shown in fig. 1 and 2. Loosen the tensioner bolts to remove the belt
fig.3, 4. Tightening only the screw in fig.3. Clean and verify that it does not exist
crankshaft or shaft seal leakage, if so replace them.
4.- Place the new Kit taking the marks previously indicated by installing the band
starting from the crankshaft towards the camshaft, place the tensioner and activate it by checking
that it is not too tense. First tightening the screw in fig. 3 and lastly the screw in the
fig.4. Doing it the other way around would cause the band to tighten up the game of
Belt tension should be ¼ of screw play. Fig. 5
5.- Once the distribution is installed, turn the crankshaft two turns with the handle to
corroborate its free movement, if any obstruction is found, repeat the operation of
installation.
NOTE: Once the band is removed, do not rotate the shaft and crankshaft gears separately.
It can cause serious damage to internal engine components.
6.- The oil change is important for the proper functioning of the components.
If there is any doubt that there is dirty oil, lower the crankcase to clean it and the
oil pump and avoid secondary problems to the lubrication system.
